The Cliff Dwellers People
I decided to do a series of paintings of The Cliff Dwellers club because this has been on my mind for a very long time. I have been a member for 24 years and have had many memorable lunches, dinners and discussions with friends who have a common interest, the arts. The setting will take your breath away, being on the top floor of 200 South Michigan overlooking the The Art Institute of Chicago and Lake Michigan. You look north, east and south for as far as you can see. The people are fascinating and the food and setting can’t get any better. I’ll keep adding paintings as the days go by. I put a painting of Navy Pier in there to let you see one of the scenes you see from the Club.
I added two more today. Our wonderful waiter who takes care of our Arts Foundation table when we have our meetings. I also made a sketch of Charles, a member of the Foundation, relaxing after a meeting.
“ Bob “ is a painting I am working on. Not finished yet. Bob Thiebout has greeted all the Cliff Dwellers and guests for over 35 years. He has a photographic mind. Meet Bob once, see him 10 years later and he still knows your name.
This is a sad update to the painting of Bob. He passed away a few days ago. A very sad day at the Cliff Dwellers. Not the same when you go there now.
